The thing I love the most about owning betta fish is the great selection of custom betta fish tanks that you can get nowadays. No matter what your personal style is, you will find something that suits you. Have a look at the one above for example. It’s the Umbra Fish Hotel Aquarium Bowl. I’m a huge fan of this one because of its “mini-condo” look.

One of the main features I like the most is that you can buy more than one and stack them, making it look like a mini-hotel  versus just a condo. That and the inner bowl can be easily removed and cleaned. The downside with this aquarium is that it is extremely small so you can only fit 1-2 fish. Really, only one comfortably since a second one would make it quite cramped.

Fantastic work Teddy!
Cheers, and remember, the best betta tank is a clean betta tank!

  1. Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I updated this post to include more information about this tank, including the pros, cons and ratings.

  2. 8x8x8 is way to small for any fish, this could be a nice thing to house a couple of shrimp though. Still pretty expensive for a bowl without a heater or filter.

  3. Thanks for the comment. Agree, it is very small but I think that’s ok if you are just starting out with this hobby. Aquariums aren’t for everyone so buying a lot of gear from the start might be intimidating for some. I’ve had good feedback from people saying that one betta works well in this tank, but no more than that if you have decorations. Cheers.

  4. What the hell is a supposed betta site doing advertising an unfilted small bowl? This is animal cruelty and anyone with any actual experience with bettas would tell you the same. Bettas require a minimum of 2.5 gallons, filtered and heated, and recommended tank size is 5gal and up. This is insulting and abusive.

    1. You are absolutely right. This is a horrible tank for bettas. I generally never recommend going under 2.5 – 3.0 gallons in size and like most of my other posts show, I normally recommend 5 gallons or more, with a filtration system and heater as minimum requirements. This was one of the first reviews I did and I have to admit, I was in love with the design (in general, not for any fish specifically in mind). Mainly because it was someone close to me that gave it to me as a gift and I think that definitely swayed my opinion on it. In the next week or so, I’m going to be updating this review and two others of my earlier reviews that were more based on my love for a specific design, rather than the actual functionality for a betta. I really appreciate the feedback.
